What does it mean if the product is certified organic?
In order to obtain an organic product certificate, a number of requirements must be met. It is mandatory to comply with all international standards. In order to obtain the certificate in question, only production methods adapted to nature should be used. Organic production is based on a production system consisting mostly of local resources and farmers' activities. All production processes within the system are controlled one by one.
Certification bodies authorized by the Ministry carry out such audit, control, evaluation and finally certification procedures. In order to obtain an organic product certificate, no harmful substances should be used in the production area. Organic certification is given to companies that comply with the specified standards and respect the environment and produce in this way. Organic certification is given by international impartial review organizations authorized by the ministry.
Organic product certificate is a type of certificate issued for products that do not contain any harmful chemicals during production and are open to control throughout the entire production process. The control and certification processes applied to issue an organic certificate have extremely strict standards.
It is given as a result of examinations created by keeping organic agriculture law and international standards together. As a result of the examinations and approval processes carried out in accordance with the authorization principles, the company can obtain a certificate stating that it produces organic products. Organic product certification covers multiple stages such as raw materials, manufacturing, product packaging, distribution and final product. The manufacturer sends the sample to the authorized company that evaluates the process. During this stage, production facilities, production stages and all other elements are also checked. The product given as a sample is examined in a laboratory environment. It is tested and analyzed. These processes are the final processes carried out before organic product certificate approval. After all tests and on-site inspections, an organic product certificate can be issued for products found to be suitable within the framework of international standards.
Today, even though our country's soil is extremely fertile, the number of producers who fully fulfill the requirements of organic agriculture is unfortunately very small. Producers, who use traditional agricultural methods more frequently, constantly supplement the products with chemical pesticides in order to obtain fast and abundant products. In addition, the use of chemicals in organic production is strictly prohibited. Since all processes are carried out on par with nature, the use of this method should be widespread in order to respect the environment, even though the production is not very high.
Organic farming has many other benefits. To take a closer look at these benefits;
-
Protecting the generations that will come after us
-
In order for future generations to be healthier, food must be planted correctly. Providing healthy food is a responsibility.
-
Preventing soil losses The use of chemical fertilizers destroys the structure of the soil.
-
Protecting the quality of water Chemical pesticides contaminate underground and surface water resources.
-
Saving energy Modern agricultural methods consume a lot of fuel. This amount may exceed the amount of fuel used in industry.
-
Avoid leaving chemical pesticide residue. Agricultural pesticides can cause many different diseases, especially cancer.
-
Protecting employees involved in agricultural production. Uncontrolled chemical fertilizers used in production seriously negatively affect the health of employees. Employees are very likely to get cancer.
